ReplyDeleteSince Deputy Chief (hock) Moore so earnestly believes that "you use it on large lions, tigers and bears," I might propose that we simply arrange to drop him into remote Botswana with nothing but a Five SeveN (which I am assuming all this fuss is about) and he can take care of any lion problems the locals may be having with his wunderpistol. If he produces a pile of lion corpses with it, he will prove his point, earn the lasting admiration of the locals, and garner my enduring respect.
See? The problem will take care of itself.
(For those who don't know it, the Five SeveN fires a .22 centerfire that might be described as a smaller, weaker .22 Hornet.)

There are indeed various levels of deadly. There is immediately deadly, such as when fed agents of some alphabet agency attempt entry at my home, unannounced. Then comes eventually deadly, such as when a socialist asshole is "elected" President, enacts draconian gun control, and reaps the results. Then, lastly, absolutelyfuckingdeadly, when a miscreant decides on a hot entry to my home, or a bureaucratic enacts a gun seizure scheme. Michael Moore. It is to laugh.

ReplyDeleteWhen they were describing arms sales in California's neighboring states, I was flashing back to descriptions of the U.S.'s armed invasion of Cambodia to interdict North Vietnamese weapons shiopments on the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
Texas is "nearby" California? There is profound ignorance displayed there on a multitude of subjects!

In almost 40 years of law enforcement and corrections I’ve investigated more homicides where people were killed by .22 shorts, .32 caliber, and bird shot than any other “deadlier” weapons. I would think that fact would make the smaller caliber weapons much more deadly than the larger caliber firearms

Your statement: “Assault weapons are illegal in California. But they are legally sold in several nearby states, including Arizona, Nevada and Texas.”
It would be more truthful to tell your readers that, “Firearms that are not actually assault weapons but are classified by California law as ‘assault weapons’ may be purchased legally in several other states.” Assault weapons may not be purchased legally anywhere within the United States. Get your facts straight.
