I've noticed that cats have a tendency to writhe and twitch, even when shot in the head. This can fool you into shooting it repeatedly.
ReplyDeleteI suppose nobody considered having it euthanized at a shelter or veterinary clinic?
ReplyDeleteIt would have been more dignified to put the animal out of its misery onsite--I could have understood that much better, even the idea that it may have required multiple shots. (Last stat I heard, nationwide hit potential for cops was 25%...who knows?)
But since the cat's misery was considered less important than relocating it to another site, why not some place that could do it with a little more dignity?

ReplyDeleteanimals are property. they don't have rights.
I haven't read the story, but have been in the situation. It is incumbent upon us to relieve the suffering if a dumb animal is so injured that only pain and death await it. Unlike people, one cannot imbue hope or understanding in an animal. All they know is they hurt.
