Carr acknowledged being detained by federal and local authorities at Newark Liberty International Airport after they found a .38 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun stowed in luggage...
Carr...was admitted to a diversion program. He agreed to perform 20 hours of community service...
The gun charge, which had been held in abeyance, was dismissed... [More]
And here's the kicker:
"I have not been convicted of any crime, so there was no reason to notify anybody of it," Carr said. "I was never before the judge. There was no plea entered. There was no conviction. I never had a sentencing."
Right. You and I get busted with an unlicensed gun at a Jersey airport and I'm sure they'd do as much for us. No "Only One" double-standard here.
And heres' something else you'd think somebody would have picked up on:
The Smith & Wesson found in the luggage, he said, belongs to his wife.
"I wasn't about to let her take the fall for it," he said.
Did this "law director" just admit he lied to a law enforcement investigation? Don't most people do time in the slammer for that?
Oh, and look what group his boss belongs to--our old pals Mayors Against (Your) Guns:
Think he'd be concerned if this happened to one of his constituents as opposed to one of his henchmen? If "authorities" threw the book at a hapless citizen, do you think he'd agree they were "overzealous"?
I guess these arrogant hypocrites think they'll be able to get away with the double standards forever. I wonder if they'll be astonished on the day they find they can't?

The ideal, of course, is the complete decriminalization of any and all behavior (or objects/substances) that are not actual aggression against others.
ReplyDeleteSo much easier. sigh...
This seems to be what the case is really about:
ReplyDelete"Carr said he failed to follow federal regulations by not reporting the unloaded weapon to the airline before boarding and not having it in a locked case in his luggage."
If he'd kept it in a locked case and declared it he'd have been protected by Federal law. And I'm guessing that "law director" isn't the same thing as "cop" or he'd have been allowed to just carry his gun on the plan like any other member of the nobility.
