A commenter to the newspaper article pointed out that the "large handgun" was actually a pellet gun, as evidenced by the foregrip under the barrel used for cocking. As Bugs Bunny would say, "Scary looking, ain't it? If his next intended victim is armed with something more substantial than a cellphone, there may be a better outcome.
It's a single-shot Crosman BB/pellet gun. The foregrip is used for pumping. Cocking must be done separately with a small "bolt-action" at the loading point.
It shoots bb's at about 530 fps, pellets at about 470 fps. Good for killing rats. Let's hope next time he threatens someone who knows what it is and gets it stuffed down his throat.
