I've been following Radley's blog on this case. I predict future textbooks will use this as an example of the Thin Blue Whine. Not entirely fair -- Arpaio is merely a symptom of a larger problem -- but appropriate nonetheless
I hope the anarchists are right in saying that a decent society can a rise from purely free interactions because that is all the egocentrics like Arpaio are going to leave us.
Thanks for the plug, David. It is pretty funny to see the theatrics with which the wolf pack starts nipping at itself--in both cases.
Personally, having lived in Colorado for 15+ years, it is nice to see that Deepest Darkest Denver hasn't infected everyone along the Front Range yet, although those sorry bastards work at it every day. Although the rot is there and growing, I know a lot of good people in that area, and I hope they take heart from the CSU student response.
It's probably also worth mentioning Denver GRE Dan Bidstrup viz the CSU case (Kurt's article points to one of Dan's), and even in general. Dan seems to have a special talent for respectfully tackling some thorny topics that most of us don't get around to, because we are busy shining flashlights at cockroaches. For example, his recent one When is lethal force justified? is a topic worth discussing among gunnies, but most of us are focused so hard on defending the right to even have this choice that we tend to skip over any of the metaphysics that treat the choice itself. Dan seems to do that well.

What outcome of a failed experiment in anarchy are you afraid of? That some regional warlord will steal all the factories and enslave the populace? That's what you have right now, it was produced by the system you champion! Your mind is SO OWNED by the commies. You can't even IMAGINE liberty, much less OBSERVE FACTS and REASON about achieving it. You're stuck in a commie fantasy of prosperity without work and safety without discipline. Your wish for an 'elder statesmen to lead a limited constitutional republic' is identical to the so-called other side's "socialism would work if only the right people were in charge". You're commies, and you will remain commies until you renounce voting. Perhaps it would be fitting that you die of malnutrition, exposure and disease after you demand a repeat of the Soviet Union. Your failure to learn is definitely impacting my empathy.
