We're the Only Ones Ensuring Incompetence Enough

The Chicago Police Department is seriously considering scrapping the police entrance exam, sources tell Fran Spielman.

Dropping the exam would bolster minority hiring and avert legal battles, according to one source, while others confirm that the exam could be scrapped to open the process to as many people as possible. [More]
So they won't actually have to understand that Constitution they're required to swear an oath to support? And these boobs are going to tell us what the law is?

So much for the argument that they're the professionals. Wonder how the Brady's are going to lie their way around this?

Why not just put up a "Thugs for Hire--Inquire Within" sign? Oh, right--because they couldn't read it.

Not just "Only Ones"--Chicago "Only Ones".

Forget it Jake, it's Chi-Town.

Has everybody had just about enough of this yet?

  1. I guess they'll have to hire secetaries or something to fill out their reports and just look at Atlanta. I heard they were really just a bunch of thugees too.

  2. Chicago cops are still required to swear an oath to the Constitution? I thought the only requirement of any kind for them was to swear fealty to King Daley the II.

There's too much to say on this, & not enough space or time. . . .

  4. I imagine they'll begin hiring cops based solely on height and muscle mass. Turn in those gang colors and get a uniform, a free gun and a badge. And diplomatic immunity from most prosecutions. Sweet.
    Brownshirts, only blue this time.

  5. I hate to say this but are we sure that this is not just making the current operating procedure official?

  6. Defender, as someone with a few years' experience in the Chicago area, I'd like to add a couple of points. Members of criminal street gangs need not turn in their colors to become members of the Chicago Police Department. The last time I looked into it, there were already known gang members on the force. Also, the official policy was for each officer to be required to buy his or her own duty weapon, I imagine to reduce the likelihood of officers engaging in gun sales at the taxpayers' expense. An investigation a few years ago revealed that guns were being sold out of the CPD evidence room for a FIFTEEN year period and "nobody knew anything about it".
