"A Terrible Idea"

What is?

Freedom to carry. In a Republic that guarantees "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

In Wyoming...

Rep. James W. Byrd, D-Cheyenne:
“I think it’s a terrible idea,” Byrd said after the House vote. “First of all, it adds another level of danger to our peace officers who are the front line in the field. It ties their hands in determining whether or not an individual is lawfully carrying a weapon or not.

In Wyoming, officers are out on their own and don’t have the luxury of having backup with them at all times, Byrd said.
Oh, and the people you're supposed to represent do?

Rep. Pete Jorgensen, D-Jackson:
[He] went further, saying that loosening gun control regulations, except for hunting, would be dangerous to everyone.

"I've been in situations in other countries working where I'm glad I didn't have a gun," said Jorgensen, who served overseas in the U.S. Army. "I've not sure I would've controlled myself."
Maybe we should start calling him "Projection Pete".

The "terrible idea" is letting these two oath-breaking subversives anywhere near the controls of power.

We've heard what a comparative paradise WY is to much of the nation when it comes to gun rights. Will those of you who live there allow serpents to remain in the garden unchallenged? Because they'll stay, they'll prosper and they'll propagate unless you do something about it.

  1. Just got done reading all of the comments in the Casper Star. Lots of people "get it," and lots don't. We have our share of brainwashed "public skool" graduates here.

And Jackson Hole is about as liberal and demented as any place in California, so it's no wonder that guy is opposed.

We shall see. I've got some serious reservations about parts of that "law" that give the police even greater power to go on fishing expeditions...

If the legislature was REALLY interested in restoring the right to keep and bear arms, or in safety for anyone, they'd simply repeal the current "laws" on concealed carry and be done with it. But we all know that's not going to happen.

So, this is probably about as close as we're going to get - at least for now.

  2. "Peace officers". Hack, SPIT! Yeah, right. Like any of those exist. You might as well worry about endangering the welfare of Tyrannosaurs. The LEOs, on the other hand, need to be put back in their place by armed people standing up for what is RIGHT.

  3. I had the feeling that Wyoming was overwhelmingly conservative, with the exception of the latte sipping transplants from the PDRK massed in Jackson Hole.
