That All Depends on the Meaning of the Word "Militia"

Deen said he was not creating a militia.

"We run from that word," Deen said. "We're just the opposite that word." [More]
So you disagree with the Founders on that whole necessary for security thing?

  1. Sounds like an "only ones" militia.

"Two hundred were chosen. Most of these people are ex-police officers and sheriff's office deputies that the sheriff's office was familiar with, Deen said."

I agree with Wyn Boniface. This is not only just an "ONLY ONES" militia.......This is EXACTLY what Saddom Hussein created with his "Saddam Fedayeen" terrorist thugs to keep the Iragi population in line.

Whackjob thugs like this Sherrif and his "ONLY ONES" militia terrorist group ARE a clear and present danger to EVERYTHING the founding father held dear. These NUTJOBS would do nothing but to start a local civil war.

  3. Definitely not militia. More like, Robber Baron, or Private Army, or Warlord. Listening to this guy, I get the feeling he wants to be the local Top Dawg, in a SHTF situation. I hope these mini-tyrant wannabes understand, when you START being a problem, I'm going to thin your ranks, considerably.

  4. Well, he's right. He's not a militia leader; he's a sheriff. That means he and his deputies, whether paid or volunteer, are the parish equivalent of a standing army. An army that will turn out to be the enemy of the people. He'll try to confiscate guns, in spite of the law against such, but this time, Louisianans will remember, and fight back (I hope.)

Mighty proud of that machine gun, ain't he? Does he really mean to threaten people with it when there are so many hunters with good rifles and decent marksmanship skills? One hunter with a sniper's mindset will take him right out.

  5. Sounds a bit like a private army to me too. At best it is a select militia made up of politically reliable member of the community.

  6. "Politically reliable" to the Sheriff, not necessarily to the community.
