  1. Here's another 'one' buried in the New York Times. And if the social fabric begins to further tear, we are supposed to depend on them??

The two men waving pistols and police badges at workers inside a warehouse stocked with perfume in New Jersey last month were not fibbing when they yelled, “N.Y.P.D.! Hands up!” according to the authorities.

But the men — Richard LeBlanca and Brian Checo, New York City police officers assigned to the 34th Precinct, in Washington Heights — were not there on a routine inspection, as one of them claimed, the authorities said.

They were there at 6:20 p.m. on Feb. 9 as part of a team of robbers that had rented five trucks and recruited 16 day laborers to haul away $1 million in perfume that a company, In Style U.S.A., was storing at the warehouse in Carlstadt, N.J., the authorities said.

On Friday, the two officers and three other men were arrested by F.B.I. agents, and federal criminal charges against them were unsealed in United States District Court in Newark.

A sixth defendant was in jail in Bergen County, the authorities said, and two more suspects were being sought on Friday.

Officer LeBlanca, 25, Officer Checo, 24, and the three others arrested each appeared in court on a federal robbery charge. All five were represented in their initial appearances by Donald J. McCauley of the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Newark.

“As to LeBlanca, he maintains his innocence,” Mr. McCauley said. He added that the officer would be his only client going forward. “These are mere allegations,” Mr. McCauley said.

    [blah blah blah ...]

    Keep up the good fight.
