We're the Only Ones Back to School Enough

U. S. District Court Judge Mark Bennett ordered Osceola County, Iowa Sheriff Douglas Weber to issue a concealed carry permit to Paul Dorr because the court found that Sheriff Weber had infringed Mr. Dorr's First Amendment rights. Judge Bennett did not stop there. He ordered Sheriff Weber to take a college-level course involving the First Amendment. [More]

  2. When a U.S. citizen reaches eighteen years of age, he must by law register for the military draft. If he joins the military, he may be issued a pistol, rifle, automatic weapons, or other weapons.

Also, he may register to vote, and through the 26th Amendment, ratified on July 1, 1971, he may vote in any and all elections. He may also serve on a jury. He would also be liable for any taxes. He would be entitled to enter into contracts and to marry without his parents' permission.

So, for all intents and purposes, aside from purchase of alcoholic beverages and the purchase and possession of weapons and ammunition, he is considered an adult citizen.

I have read that the accident rates of motorists younger than 25 years of age is higher than those older, with the accident rate increasing again for the elderly.

Would it not be reasonable to modify the rights and restrictions (weapons and ammunition purchase, motor vehicle operation, voting rights, jury duty obligations, etc.) on those people due to judgment issues? Why only discriminate against adults younger than twenty one years of age? The only age discriminator noted in the U.S. Constitution is that candidates for President must be at least 35 years of age. Perhaps it would be appropriate to infantilize all those under 35 years of age.

Maybe I'm being pedantic but there are a few more:
Art.1, Sec. 2: No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.
Art. 1, Sec. 3: No person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.
Amendment 26: The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
