So Much for Being Endowed by Their Creator...

Even after the landmark Supreme Court decisions that gave individuals across the country a right to have a gun in their home for self-defense, the gun lobby still isn't happy. [More]
What a strange thing to say for people who are presuming to speak for God.

The "progressives" at Savannah Morning News said it, I believe it, that settles it.

Isn't that the way faith is supposed to work?

  1. From Luke 22:36 and 22:38:
"But now," he [Jesus] said, "take your money and a traveler's bag. And if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one!
    ...
The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," he replied."

The sword was the most effective offensive and defensive weapon of that time and place. Travelers could expect to encounter robbers and bandits.

    From Luke 10:30:
"After careful consideration, Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he fell into the hands of bandits. They stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead."

The notion of absolute Christian pacifism in the face of threat is overblown.

What would Jesus or his disciples shoot?

  3. The Pope has armed bodyguards, and has for nearly 500 years.

  4. First they recognize that there have been killings in church, then say it's no place for a firearm. Tell that to the dead parishioners...

  5. "Praise Court from whom all blessing flow," huh?
    THERE'S the problem right there.
Even the Founders GAVE us nothing.
I wonder if those newsies can even quote an amendment other than the First.
The gun lobby isn't happy. The free speech lobby isn't happy. Pretty much nobody's happy except the people making the laws and the people shining their jackboots with their tongues.

  6. I see my organization GeorgiaCarry.Org got their plug. Its absolutely appauling that these liberal pansies are so afraid of gun, that they want to deny our 1st and 2nd amendment rights. This fear is beyond irrational and completely idiotic. The writer of the articles needs to go see a shrink for his hoplophobia.

  7. My congregation never banned any weapon. I hate to say it, but congregations that do are stupid.

We do have a small sign next to our main entrance that asks those who are carrying (and desire to do so) confer with the deacons. We may ask them to join in our defense plan!

Of course our state law prohibits weapons in church buildings.

The church board decided to ignore that law (and selected others) several years ago.

Nobody has ever complained, and the sheriffs department knows where to keep their noses out of.
