The Wrong Victim

Naturally, the "Authorized Journalists" focus on the "cop" part. [Read]

Seeing as how that choice is available in FL to non-"Only Ones" (albeit permitted ones), I'd prefer to focus on the "armed citizen" aspect.

  1. Every victim needs to be the wrong victim. If the proportion of robbers walking away bleeding or being carried off no longer breathing were higher, the incidence of robbery would decline a lot. Let's try it and see. If it saves just one life, as they like to say...

  2. Also in Florida:
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP)- A Christian minister said Tuesday that he will go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Quran this weekend to protest the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks despite a warning from the top U.S. general in Afghanistan that doing so would endanger American troops.

Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center said he understands Gen. David Petraeus' concerns, but plans to go forward with the burning this Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the attacks...

Jones told the AP in a phone interview that he is also concerned but wonders how many times the U.S. can back down.

"We think it's time to turn the tables, and instead of possibly blaming us for what could happen, we put the blame where it belongs - on the people who would do it," he said. "And maybe instead of addressing us, we should address radical Islam and send a very clear warning that they are not to retaliate in any form."

Jones, who runs the small, evangelical Christian church with an anti-Islam philosophy, says he has received more than 100 death threats and has started wearing a .40-caliber pistol strapped to his hip."

  3. @Defender: Even though 9/11 was clearly an "inside job", I still recognize Islam for the evil, totalitarian system that it is. We should be warned by looking at the effect it has had in the UK and France. I applaud the pastor for exercising 1st and 2nd amendment rights (permitted 2nd amendment rights).

  4. I'll be at the Gainesville koran burning. Since it's private property there'll be an awful lot of people carrying openly, but still don't know if I'll be in stealth or open mode myself.
