Elephant Fumes

National Republicans are furious with the National Rifle Association, their natural ally, for endorsing 58 incumbent Democrats who support gun rights. And with Republicans aiming to win control of the House, some are promising retribution for the NRA next year. [More]

I'm the first one to question NRA endorsements of Democrats as being incompatible with "voting freedom first." But when the GOP offers us merde like Mark Kirk, Dan Coats, et al, they can just go to hell.

Go ahead and fume, m...........s.  You really want to talk about promising retribution?

We may not be able to win every election, but we damn sure have the numbers to ensure they'll lose some if they don't toe the line.  But for those timid souls who so want to believe that "lesser of two evils" wishful thinking...

  1. With the World Series going on, there was a commercial including a New York Yankees fan who intends to be buried in his Yankees jersey. He and his girlfriend broke up because she was more of a Boston Red Sox fan.
Applying that same kind of team fanaticism to life-affecting political processes is just stupid. It's the social model forced on us from elementary school onward. Plus the mantra "two-party system, two-party system."
    Thank goodness for the Internet.

  2. The other side of the coin is the NRA endorsement of poor Dem choices over good 2A supporting candidates. Oberstar over Cravaack?

How about we fix the NRA before castigating GOP types who see the problem?

I speak from some experience on this. I was in Bama when the NRA backed Seigleman over Bob Riley. Heston even flew into Mobile to raise Don's hand in the champion pose. Do you know how hard it was to reverse the lie that Seigleman was a 2A supporter after that? Seigleman's most run TV ad was that he was a 2A supporter since the NRA said so. Riley BARELY won, and a lot of Seigleman's votes came from this issue.
