Airsoft Insanity. ATF, having plunged its left arm in a pot of boiling oil over pistol grip shotguns, sticks its right in over Airsoft "machine guns." [More]Sipsey Street Irregulars brings us this latest in an ongoing saga.
Question: Why can't the original page be found? What's with a cached version only? Perhaps it's just an innocuous glitch, but where BATFU is concerned, I make no assumptions.

Fox News: Airsoft can be converted to real guns. Will that make toy owners felons? As a follow-up to that question, I asked:
If, in fact, these toy guns pose a legal and real danger, is everyone in possession of such a lower receiver now in possession of an illegal firearm?UPDATE: Mike doesn't think the cache business is necessarily innocuous either.
Will there be a recall? Will BATFE issue a circular to manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers...and local law enforcement?
Importantly, will anyone who has one now be in danger of being classified a felon if it can be proven they know about this, making their possession or transfer of their airsoft gun "willful," and thus subject to criminal prosecution?
Do we now have a new crop of criminals? Hundreds or thousands of them? How could that not be the case?
Cool. They want to alienate the formerly-apolitical and apathetic Generation Y and Z toy-gun gamers. You KNOW THEY don't give a crap about the law or much of anything else. Now they will.
ReplyDeleteAfter toy guns eh? These neonazis would've shit bricks if they had seen my collection back in the late 50's early 60's. When toys looked very real. Yet btw, I knew the difference, something some kids don't know now I've heard.

ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I just happen to have seen on of these once. Produced in a "correctional facility" by someone in desperate need of additional correction, a fully functional copy of the S&W mod76 9mm smg, with ammo found elsewhere within.

If no one ever touches guns, no one dies from guns. Unless one somehow thinks a bullet is a good thing, nothing good ever came from the barrel of a gun. Nothing. Not ever.
