Amazing what can be accomplished with one isolated incident and a lot of panic-mongering. I see innocent people dying because of this, and citizens accepting it as the cost of "keeping our officers safe." Honey, they're not YOUR officers anymore. Wait until you get pulled over by one who doesn't know you or how much you respect and admire them.
These people act as they do because government routinely exceeds its Constitutionally limited authority, and they see this as an act of war. They believe that the government started this war.
I'm not so sure they're wrong, at least not on all the points raised.
If every traffic stop I made had me so fearful of the stoppee that I was so afraid that I wanted a "machine gun" (don't blame me; Paudert called them that) held at the ready...
Well, first I might rather have a rifle-rated ballistic vest with ceramic inserts. Then I might wonder if the local SWAT should be working traffic instead of me. Then I'd be thinking that if every stop has become this dangerous, maybe we're doing it wrong. But then, my IQ is high enough to disqualify me for a lot of departments.
Police/TSA/DHS/fed.gov create the situation where they become an occupying army, pitting themselves against the citizenry that pays them.

It will turn out the same this time. After a long train of abuses, a drawn out war of wills will destroy many lives and fortunes. And then a righteous people will constitute a government to protect their life, liberty, and property; limiting the government to specific enumerated powers, and reserving all other powers for themselves. .
How far ahead are "Jeopardy!" episodes taped? Because a clue tonight was "Founded in 19__, this organization educates about equality and tolerance." The answer was, of coure "What is the SPLC?" Maybe it was a very old clue. Remember Family Feud and "Name a beautiful bird bloodthirsty hunters shoot and kill"? Then a video clue was Bill Clinton taking credit for working with George H.W. Bush on aiding victims of these two hurricanes. One was Katrina. Yeeha. Bite me, Trebek.
This is just more than what is stated. This is a test that all levels of controllers in government are watching. The game plan here is to build a higher and thicker wall between LE and citizens. It is very important that LE sees the citizens and outsiders of LE as, "us vs Them". Also this puts fear into citizens which in turn has citizens acting with distrust to LE which the useful idiots in LE pick up on and take it in all the wrong ways. A lot of MO in building the Us v Them demeanor was learned by the puppet masters in using, class warfare to get groups isolated from each other for better control. Keep in mind isolating citizens from truthful news and each other of like mindedness is key for control. Gun shows are gatherings of like minded folks which is a huge part of why the puppet masters don't like about them.
I recall a tv news incident when I was in Florida in the early 1980's about a wanted suspect surrendering on a police traffic stop when he noticed the red laser dot on himself, I recall the reporter went on to mention it was mounted on a fully automatic weapon the officer was issued as a squad car rifle.

"No officer should have to die..."
