I have to wonder. Are at least some these police deaths cases in which bystanders have a chance to help the officer but not the means? Or CHOOSE not to? Puts me in mind of the rathskeller scene in "Inglourious Basterds," when Aldo and his men and the Germans have guns pointed at each other under the table. We aren't clued in as to which way the bartender will swing with his shotgun when the lead starts flying. Why, in favor of the people NOT oppressing him, of course.
