Are We Getting the Whole Story Behind the Austin Gun Show?

Forgive me if I can't help but focus on these words:

"[T]he department wishes to withhold some of the requested information and has asked for a decision from the Attorney General about whether the information is within an exception to public disclosure."

Why? [More]
APD's stonewalling on an information request called for a second Gun Rights Examiner column today.

TSRA may be able to draw conclusions, but I can't.

Permit-Free Arizona?

J.D. Tuccille tells us of a bill. [Read]

Predictably:
In response, John Thomas, the lobbyist for the Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police, said, "SB 1102, if enacted into law, will take Arizona back to the Wild West carry, with no consideration of officer safety.''
You can tell John to go **** himself here.

We're the Only Ones Skimming Enough

A former Shelby County narcotics detective has been sentenced to six months in federal prison for stealing money confiscated from drug dealers. [More]
What, you mean that's not considered armed robbery?

I certainly am glad he got off so lightly. Why, if that federal judge had treated him like someone really dangerous, say, Wayne Fincher or David Olofson, that could really erode some of the benefits of being an "Only One."

Hey, if the sentence is under a year, does that mean he's not a "prohibited person," either?

And in our continued confirmation that it's just a few bad apples, we must note:
Some four dozen area law enforcement officers from six agencies have been named in corruption cases in the past six years, often with cash-laden drug dealers as their targets.
Gee, you'd think such draconian punishments would discourage this sort of thing.

There's One Thing I Don't See

What would have happened if Darwin Boedecker had said "No," refused to go along with any "suggestion," and indicated his determination to hold the show without any changes or limitations? [Read]

The Magic Amulet

Police were told Denny drove the woman to San Diego International Airport, where he flashed his fake badge to get through security. [More]
See, have the amulet and you have the power to cloud men's minds--although in the case of TSA, the clouds are already pretty dark and fluffy.

I'll bet if you had that amulet you could walk around with a gun and no one would give you a second look. Do the same without it, and you may stampede the herd.

Mass conditioned reflexes to symbols of authority--why, that's a pretty handy thing for tyrants to have...and it works like magic!

Anti-Dog Editorial Exemplifies Anti-Gun Mentality

This all goes to the heart of the gun controller's dream--prior restraint on your rights because of what you might be capable of doing. Take that line far enough and off go our hands, potential stranglers that we are. Next up, all you proto-rapists... [More]

This Day in History: February 4

On February 4, 1778, Pulaski proposed a plan for the formation of a training division of hussars. In a letter to Washington Pulaski wrote:

"There is an officer now in this Country whose name is Kovach. I know him to have served with reputation in the Prussian service and assure Your Excellency that he is in every way equal to his undertaking." [More]
