Oregon Gun Owner Alert: The Heat is On for SB 1064

This is a special activist alert on behalf of my friends at Oregon Firearms Federation:

"Senate Bill 1064 will most likely be on the Senate Floor tomorrow." [More]

Busy day today--three Gun Rights Examiner columns. Ah well, friends are in need.

So help them out? Get the word out to any and all gun owners you know in Oregon that urgent action is needed?

Gun Rights Examiners Comment on National Parks Rule

I posted my observations on the change in rules "allowing" guns in national parks earlier today.

I thought it would be helpful for regular readers if I also brought you recent related commentary from my fellow Gun Rights Examiners. [More]
So I wrote a second column for today to do just that.

Also learn of a threat in Nevada that could well be tried in your state.

The O'Chavez Factor

"If the law authorizes it, nothing is impossible.” [More]
Bill O'Reilly couldn't have said that better himself.

Ethics, Richmond Free Press-Style

The Newbius Papers brings us a perfect example of an unethical press presenting blatant screaming propaganda as straight news. [Read]

I sent them this:

Do feel free to join me.

A Convenient Ignorance

Knowing what is plainly and clearly delineated in the aforestated, can anyone, without absurdity, find for Congress or any other branch of the Federal government, the ability, the power to regulate arms as they have so done? [More]
MOWCA Blog looks at willful ignorance and the Firearms Freedom Acts.

I'd add the term "deliberate indifference."

We're the Only Ones "In Soviet Russia, Police Endanger YOU" Enough

In a high-profile court case, a Moscow police officer was sentenced to life in prison Friday for killing two people and injuring seven in a drunken shooting rampage at a supermarket last year. [More]

We're the Only Ones Not Sweet Enough

Gardner said he later learned that the officer who had shot him had diabetes and was suffering from a hypoglycemic, or low blood sugar, episode. [More]
And wouldn't you just know:
In response to the lawsuit, the department said neither they nor Ritchie should be held responsible for the shooting.
Hey, if they had no policy, how could he violate it?

Still, we can't ignore the danger armed diabetics pose to society. Perhaps some civic-minded politician could introduce a bill to alleviate the threat.

"Only Ones" exempted, of course...

We're the Only Ones Providing Higher Learning Enough

"I was surprised to see him show up at the classroom, and ... I was wondering if it was appropriate for him, one, to be there, and two, to want to be in the class .... I didn't feel it was the time or place to discuss it, but since he was physically there, I reacted in the way that I did. ... Yes [I felt intimidated] .... I thought ... he'd have a clear understanding of what any given professor, whether it's me or anybody else, can or can't say in a classroom." [More]
Enjoy the fruits, academia. If any of you really studied history, you'd know useful intellectual idiots are expendable. Heck, in some regimes, just wearing glasses has been cause enough for a death sentence.

Assuming this story is an accurate account, why didn't you tell him, in front of everyone, to get the **** out of your classroom?

Again, assuming it's accurate, I have a tough time feeling sympathy for such a wimp.

How Do You Figure...

Ain't nothin' more Orwellian than anti-Nazi Nazis...

That's what GOA gives Russ Carnahan. [Read]

24thState gives him an even worse grade. And I'd fail those "Only Ones" who schooled him.

I see he's a big believer in "smart guns"--as opposed to "smart users"?

GRE Round Up for Feb. 22

There's some good stuff being turned out. I hope you're availing yourself of it, and importantly, sharing these links via emails, on blogs and forums, etc.

A common complaint is media bias and absence of representation for "our side."

These people work hard to change that and ask for nothing from those of us their labors serve other than to help spread the word. I hope no one thinks that's too much to ask.

Here are their latest offerings:

Ed Stone/Atlanta:
Georgia's National Parks are no longer gun free zones

Steve D. Jones/Fort Smith:
Liston Matthews/Knoxville:
Would Saint Peter pack a pistol in a national park today?

Chris Woodard/Tucson:
Hostile amendment added to Arizona Constitutional carry bill SB 1102

The Content of Her Character

A borough woman with a lengthy criminal record faces aggravated assault and a litany of other charges after a brawl inside M&T Bar, 200 S. Main St., late Wednesday night, police said.

Authorities allege Miriam Leticia Malave, 36, of 35 S. Main St., also yelled, "All the whites will die tonight," while she and three others beat numerous people inside the bar. [More]

See, this is why we need to keep guns out of bars....right?

And let's see:

...two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, one count of making terroristic threats and one count of harassment...

No "hate crime" charges...? What's to "look into"?

This Malave sounds like one classy lady, does she not?

We're the Only Ones...

...who can't walk and chew gun at the same time. [Read]

Boy, if that overwhelmed them, just think how effective they'd be in a regional catastrophe.

Right, "the police are there to protect us" crowd?

A New Kind of "Only One"?

Cultural considerations played no part in the decision not to seek the death penalty. [More]
Without meaning to turn this into a debate on capital punishment, does anyone reading what this evil coward did really believe that?

Dumbfounded Down Under

Goodness. What a surprise.

What Guns in National Parks Rule Change Won't Do

It's the kind of mentality that's just waiting for the first opportunity to scream "We told you so!" [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner column notes that just because we won a round, the fight is hardly over. And it will get dirty.

Also celebrate a special birthday.
