My high school history class spent an entire hour on the Constitution and its Bill of Rights one day. Rote recitation of the list, no context. We're SO FREE, that's all we needed to know. Then back to memorizing the numbers of deaths in various wars, names of kings and queens, and what a great deal the Louisiana Purchase was.
