    They're not ASKING.
    What free ride? My daughter has no insurance, gets to wait until everyone else in the ER has been seen, and gets to pay her entire bill herself.

  3. Observed in my country, today:
    Adventures in preparing for a new career that probably isn't going to go away.
    Testing with an independent company for state certification in a low-skill profession. You will place all personal belongings -- including handkerchief. Forget that invisible ink trick. Tissues will be provided on request -- in a locker. You will provide a valid government photo ID. You will have your photo taken on site with a webcam. You will have your left and right palm vein patterns recorded by scanning. You will be escorted to and from the test cubicle by a testing proctor. Your palm will be scanned upon each entry and exit.
    Or you WILL NOT test.
    In two years, you will re-certify.
    For a license to wash, perm and cut hair.
