Meanwhile, Down Under in Sarah Brady Paradise...

Darwin's Lord Mayor Graeme Sawyer has been found guilty of illegally possessing a replica gun and silencer. [More]
No worries, mate:
[N]o conviction was recorded for the offence.
Well tie me kangaroo down, sport. But after all, he is Lord Mayor.

It's not like they're going to let me Abos go loose, Bruce.  Or any of the rest of you lot, either.

  1. My recording of the Rolf Harris song has the lyrics:

Let me Abo's go loose, Lou...

Back in '86, before the Tasmanian debacle, I spent a weekend on liberty in Perth-Freemantle with a retired warrant officer and his wife. They were lovely, decent people who introduced me around to their friends, took me out for a barbie in the outback, and generally treated me very well. They were, however, statists to the bone. Upon discovering that two of my ribbons represented Rifle and Pistol Expert medals, though, they all recoiled in horror and treated me to 20 minutes of stories about what rotters guns and gun owners are, assuring me that Crocodile Dundee was most emphatically NOT what Australia was really like. Like I said, statists to the bone.

Too bad. I would have liked to have met a real croc-poacher in Australia.
