Too Much, The Magic Bus

The Criminal Mayors have started a Treason on Wheels cross-country tour.  George Stephanopoulos does a great job being impartial instead of just a sympathetic sob-sister tool for Furious Mike, don't you think? [Read and watch]

You don't?

And OK, it's a truck, not a bus.  But it's still magic.  Because there's certainly nothing grounded in reality about it.

Huh--I see they're posting Tweets and they're now in Newark. Does this mean they won't announce their destination and dates in advance, so maybe people can greet them? Armed and openly carrying, where feasible?

And Huh again--all the comments so far appear to be solidly in the "disarm us for our own good" camp, almost as if they primed the pump or something. Let's just see if they entertain reasoned discourse:

  1. The usual blather from Bloomy who seems to have his bloomers eternally in a twist.

Regarding Arizona, "Well it may have been a PR stunt..."

    Hah! May have been...

  2. Nope. No reasoned discourse at all. Pure, unalloyed propaganda. How do I know? Every comment section I've seen under every anti-gun article I've read in open forums has at least a few pro-gun comments. Some of them are extraordinarily well-written. Some of the worst articles are literally buried under pro-gun comments, which eviscerate and destroy the anti-gun whines. This site has NO pro-gun comments, and most of the anti-gun comments are badly written.

    Propaganda site.

  3. The comments do have a very staged feel to them.

  4. Translation into English, for the liberty-impaired:

"...our nation is in peril from the insidious and pervasive threat of gun violence and an aggressive gun lobby."

The nation is full of decent, honest Americans who aren't buying our exaggerations, distortions, and lies.

"When nerves are raw, emotions high, and debate still in full swing, there is a window for people of good will to unite in reversing the needless toll of gun violence."

We will always dance in the blood of victims because we never let a good crisis go to waste.

"...support organizations that stem the tide of such violence..."

Hey, if George Soros, Mike Bloomberg and other billionaire control freaks want to fund our little astroturf agitprop groups because we have no real grassroots support, we'll take their money.

"...advocate for saner, better-enforced gun laws..."

Agitate for the complete and total disarmament of all Americans...

"...While there are no guarantees against subsequent tragedies, there is immeasurable value in standing together..."

Waving signs and singing "Kumbayah" will prevent violent criminals from preying on the innocent. Didn't the Sixties teach you right-wingers anything?

"...It is a myth that challenging the NRA on gun safety is a third rail in politics..."

Pay no attention to Bill Clinton's statement to the contrary, and ignore all subsequent empirical evidence that supports him.

"...The poll -- jointly conducted by a Democratic and Republican firm..."

A firm so solidly reputable that we can't name it, or reveal the poll questions and methodology. Trust us.

"...even gun owners strongly support common-sense solutions like requiring background checks for people who buy firearms at gun shows..."

Yeah, there's a few Fudds we can point to, and we'll claim that their numbers are over 100 times the actual figure, because that's what we do.

"...more than half the respondents report actively re-thinking their positions ..."

But we won't reveal how many "respondents" we got, or what questions we asked, because you don't need to know. Trust us.

  5. "The public believes that better protection from gun crime is necessary -- and that it is possible without infringing the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens."

Unfortunately, 90% of these people are right-wing gun nuts who believe that they can take care of themselves and the Second Amendment prevents us from disarming them, so we had to "tweak" this statement a little.

"...the gun lobby has successfully stalled gun violence prevention measures, such as the renewal of the federal assault weapons ban, which would outlaw the 30-round clips ..."

Admittedly we don't know the difference between a rifle and an assault rifle, or the difference between a magazine and a clip, or why the "Assault Weapons Ban" had nothing to do with assault rifles, crime, or violence, but we're willing to sign the papers without reading them and hope for the best.

"... a ban on the sale of .50-caliber ammunition..."

Yeah, we like .50 caliber rifle and ammo bans, because all those things are good for is sniping at innocent civilians and airliners from a mile away. Which is why we think that the LAPD should have them.

"...In the philanthropic arena, funding for gun safety has lagged, not nearly keeping pace with the issue's blight on society...."

We hate to admit it, but there aren't enough control-freaks with fortunes out there to keep up with the millions of Americans who support the NRA, SAF, GOA, and JFPO with their small amounts of hard-earned money.

"...But giving at any level makes a difference. A check does not have to be large to contribute to a non-profit's efforts...."

But right now that's all we've got.

"In its 2010 publication Gun Laws Matter: A Comparison of State Firearms Laws and Statistics, LCAV--the country's only organization devoted exclusively to providing legal assistance in support of gun violence prevention --ranked California first of all 50 states in terms of having the nation's strongest gun violence prevention legislation."

But it's not enough, and it won't be enough until all of you ignorant serfs are forced to submit to total disarmament, even though the data clearly shows that California's gun-control efforts results in greater crime rates than states with "looser" gun laws.

Submitted comments are "reviewed". I'll be pleasantly surprised if my comment appears on their site.

Rendering a peaceable person harmless is morally repugnant. Such activity has preceeded history's largest slaughters of innocents.

So-called "gun free" zones merely inform criminals where to find helpless victims.

Lastly, if you try to steal from me Creator-granted rights, as recognized in the Declaration of Independence, I will kill you.

    Your move.

  7. No opposing comments to be found, including your "Molon labe," David.
Just remembered. It was the "duly elected" Parliament of Iran that has this week been calling for the deaths of opposition leaders. What is this but that?
Time to run that list of MAIG mayors and their indictments again?

If they weren't screening out pro-gun comments, there would be some by now. But there's not one pro-gun comment. They WILL NOT hear from us. We don't fit their agenda.

  9. Zero critical comments allowed. Zero. That's your right to free speech as far as Bloomberg is concerned. What a tyrant! He doesn't just want our guns, he wants all our rights. Every last one of them.

  10. When are they going to Philly?
If they're in Newark now (or yesterday, 2/16), Philly can't be too far off. If I have enough notice, I do believe I'll load up with the SKS and my sidearm and go greet them in Philly.
I'll look more thoroughly through their site *shudder*, but I didn't see that list of planned stops either. Hell, if I learn of them anywhere within a 4 hour drive of me in PA I'll go greet them with my legally purchased weapons and a smile :)

  11. Well crap. They're in Reading, PA right now (as far as I can tell). That's close (about 1-1/2 hour drive), but I can't leave work on this short of notice and I have something going on tonight until 5:30 or 6:00 after work.
I will check their site again for progress later tonight and again in the morning, and if they are still in PA I'll take off work and drive to them.
I truly do hope I can "welcome" them to PA properly.

  12. Just found the page where they list their current location and the next stop. I don't see where they list the timelines for the stops, but here's that link:
    http://www.fixgunchecks.org/?no_splash=1

    As of 02/17/2011 @ 10:41:
    Current City - Reading, PA
    Next Stop - Philadelphia, PA

  13. If they somehow find the way to Texas I'm sure we'll give 'em a hospitable welcome.

  14. I posted the following comment:

"Jared Lee Loughner lied on the form 4473 that is used by the ATF to record a firearms transaction at a licensed fireams dealer. In doing this, he committed a felony. Loughner was not in the system as a "prohibited person", and therefore would have passed any background check used by a firearms dealer, including the current NICS check system, which he *did* pass.

"There are already over 20,000 federal firearms laws on the books. There are many more state and local laws. In New York City, it is virtuallly impossible to legally own a firearm. Yet, there are still hundreds of murders with firearms in the City every Year. The same goes for Chicago, where it is literally impossible to legally own a handgun.

"Criminals will get firearms, no matter how many laws are passed. Criminals, by their very nature, ignore the laws. This proposal by Mayor Bloomberg does nothing to affect criminals, and will only restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens to own firearms."

It immediately pops up with "Your comment has been submitted for review." which tells me that they are eliminating any comments that don't fit with their agenda.
