"This betrayal at the highest levels of our government is consistent with the other betrayals we have documented across the board," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "The Executive Branch of the federal government has been caught lying about border security, leaving our borders wide open during a time of war, failing to protect states from invasion as required by the US Constitution, and now providing military grade arms to the invaders. We are calling on the Congress today to use all possible remedies including investigations, prosecutions, impeachments, and possible charges of treason." [More]They asked me to look at it before they published it. Here's my response:
They're not really military grade weapons per se--the AK47s allowed to walk were semiauto variants--militaries use select fire weapons capable of multi-round bursts and/or full auto. It is an important distinction, as the anti-gun media often confuses the public on the difference in order to gin up hysteria for further bans, and the strategy for them doing this, either through ignorance or intent, is one invented and promoted by anti-gun groups. Besides which, full auto weapons manufactured after 1986 are illegal for civilian ownership, meaning the price of a pre-86 gun is many thousands of dollars, as opposed to hundreds for the semiauto version. Calling an AK clone an "assault rifle" and a Barrett, which many use for just plain fun a "sniper rifle" demonizes the tools. I know it does not gin up as much hysteria, but you'll alienate knowledgeable gun owners using the same terms the antis and the media employ. Suggest dropping "assault rifles" and using "semiautomatic", and dropping "sniper" from the Barrett ref.--sure, it can be used for sniping, but so can any accurate rifle.
I agree with your analysis - this whole thing is foul enough without resorting to hyperbole.
ReplyDeleteThe TRUTH is a big enough outrage without sinking to the same level of dishonesty as The Enemy.
The TRUTH is that real-deal full-auto weapons can be had in South America for the price of a CHICKEN.
The TRUTH is that the risks involved in smuggling neutered, straw-purchased weapons south are ordinarily too high to make it worthwhile for the cartels to do so, when the real-deal is so easy to obtain.
THIS however has turned that reality on its head. ATFs active collusion turns that risk/reward calculation on its head, and thus ensures they'd get the high body-count they needed to ostensibly "justify" their planned tyranny.
Frankly, I'm glad to see someone besides myself using the proper word for this: TREASON!
Further, anyone who has ever worked in a bureaucracy - ESPECIALLY a .gov agency - knows that an operation like this cannot happen without approval from the very top.
ATF is part of DOJ - this means Eric Holder.
It was a foreign country - this means the State Department - which means Her Filthiness, the Hildebeast.
CBP had to be kept out of the way - which we know they were. ATF has admitted that one of their shipments was intercepted just this side of the border by CBP agents.
The SUV they stopped had DOZENS of weapons on board, but ATF told them to release the men, the vehicle nd their guns - one of which was later used to murder CBP agent Jaime Zapata.
For CBP to have accepted orders from ATF just does not normally happen - and to MAKE it happen would require direction from the very top. This means Homeland Security - which means "Big Sis" - Janet Incompetano.
Further, as others have noted, having this many agencies involved means there MUST have been someone - a "czar" of sorts - to coordinate response and action between the various agencies.
Given this - and the fact that half his cabinet members are involved - means that there's no question that Dear Reader Himself - Chairman MaoBama - gave the whole deal at least tacit approval.
This is bigger than Watergate - as its goal was to strip Citizens of their right, and nobody DIED from Watergate.
It is likely bigger than any scandal in our history - and we simply *CANNOT* allow it to be buried, swept under the rug!!
It appears they ignored your advice. The words "assault" and "sniper" are still in the final version published on their web site.
ReplyDeleteThey also referred to them as "elite," which is a term I would definitely NOT use to describe an AK.
A shame. I guess "sizzle" means more to them than "steak," if you know what I mean.
