The new "gun safety" crowd (same old faces with a new twist) expecting gun dealers to be able to accurately identify mentally deficient or mentally unstable individuals reminds me of the push several years ago to train jailers to detect potential inmate suicide victims and successfully intervene with concern, empathy, emotional assistance to prevent suicides. And, to feel guilt if an inmate did manage to sneak in under the wire and commit suicide.
I would guess that psychologists and psychiatrists lose a damn sight more patients/inmates to suicide that do jailers.
This is another case of attempting to shift the blame away from the shooter to the gun and the FFL.
