No Excuses...

...but nonetheless relevant...[Read]

I see from comments that the source of this link is not universally acclaimed.

I am not in a position to argue about that, just to note that the information appears relevant--so rather than just dismiss it outright due to the messenger, we need to determine how much of it is true. This isn't an issue of making excuses for the mad dog murderer, I think my title to this post makes that clear, but I do believe our understanding the totality of facts is important--particularly for parents who send their kids to camps that espouse an ideology on either side of the spectrum--if for no other reason than to be aware that we now have a real world example of security vulnerabilities being exploited to advance extremist agendas.

I remember the camp I went to as a kid--we had rifle range practice with .22s. I checked out their website out of nostalgia and see it is now proudly gun-free.

Geller is a whackjob who puts the interests of a foreign nation above that of the US.

    Chris Mallory,

I can't speak much on Pamela Geller, but Robert Spencer seems to speak well of her, and Robert's work on exposing the nature of fundamentalist Islam is stellar.

Is there a specific criticism of Pamela or her writings that can be pointed to as an example?

    PG,
It is simple. Read some of her writings. She is one of the "There are muslims hiding in the linen closet and they are going to kill us all. Never criticize Israel. If you disagree with me on a political issue, you are an antisemite" neocons. She bases everything on "Israel is always right." Even to the detriment of the United States.
I wish no harm to anyone, but I am an American first, last and always. What is good for America is my only priority.

  4. The premise seems to be, “the ends always necessarily justify the means.” Acts of brutality are considered justifiable if the ideologies behind them are considered justified. Hence; the inquisition, the holocaust, Waco, September 11, Wounded Knee, …, Oklahoma City, and lately Utoya Island. As per Glick and Geller: for the left wing pro-islam Norwegians it is unacceptable for Breivik to murder Norwegian children, because his ideology is wrong. But it is acceptable for Palestinians to murder Israeli children, because their ideology is right.

    Chris Mallory,

I have read some of her writings, but not enough to know why you'd originally referred to her as whackjob.

Government is force, and the initiation of force is wrong, be it for assault, taxation-aka-theft, or to "help" other countries such as Israel.

Many people are right about some things and wrong about others. Pamela Geller's writings on Islam that I've read are right on the money, and based not on hysteria but on Islam's own "holy" books. Yes, there are Muslims hiding nearby that would like very much to kill us all.

I've seen several folks who are correct on the fundamentals of Islam calling for a literal world war of conquest be wrong by calling for the government to initiate force to try to shape behaviors by others that harm no one.

Dismissing somone out of hand because they don't seem to be 100% correct on every issue shouldn't be done lightly.

Good of you, David, for providing this link. More people should visit her blog.
