David, I agree that this is a stupid rule for a gun range to have. Along those lines, I have been having trouble processing what I read on the Information page for the nearest Appleseed Shoot. From the Misc section: Rifles cased and left in vehicle until after Safety Briefing and until instructed to bring them to the firing line. Pistols left in vehicle for entire event.
So, Appleseed follows the same rules. I love the concept behind Appleseed, but I'm having trouble accepting this rule. I have not attended one yet, I wasn't aware of them most of my life, but this is the reason I haven't attended one this year (since I started actually looking into them). I've just recently sent them an email about it (in the last week), but I haven't had a response yet.
I spoke too soon... I hadn't done it before, but just for grins I decided to check out the info pages for some other locations after I made my previous comment. Apparently the no pistols thing is local to that (and just some other) location. I stand corrected on Appleseed. I had mistakenly assumed this was a common rule, now I feel like an idiot. I'll be sending a correction (apology) email to national Appleseed.

So, how are you supposed to carry your gun? tied around your neck with a string?
ReplyDeleteI was always amused by the "no loaded weapons" signs at the gun shows. Of course most of the dealers (including me) are carrying concealed.
