And Then Along Came Jones...

State Senate Republican Rick Jones said that this has become a major problem, especially within the gang community. “People are taking imitation firearms that look real, cutting off the orange end and then threatening people,” he said. [More]

Kind of like the stuff I had as a kid, without one problem ever. And because Michigan has no other problems.

Say, he wouldn't be this Rick Jones, would he...?

  1. "Supporters of the proposed legislation have also cited a recent case where a police officer was forced to shoot a gang member who was aiming a toy gun without its required markings. Jones believes this proposal will be vital in preventing incidents such as this from occurring in the future."

If gang members are this stupid they deserve the Darwin award. I was taught as a child, never point a gun of any kind at anyone. Dad understood that good habits started early carried over. I guess it worked because I have only pointed a gun at one person in my life. He quickly understood his mistake and beat a hasty retreat.

"...a crime to possess a toy gun that has its required markings removed..."

So, we're going to make boys with normal sensibilities into criminals, because instead of an idiotic-looking orange tip worthy of a doofus, they want their toy guns to look realistic to better fit the fantasy, so they scrape the orange paint off and thereby commit a crime?
We're going to criminalize six-year olds for normal, ordinary behavior, so some idiotic politician can take credit for pretending to have saved the world?
Rick Jones needs his head painted orange, so people can tell he's not for real.
