It's good to see a balanced editorial for once. They aren't placing blame or calling for measures that will do nothing. I do think there should be education. Every school should be using the Eddie Eagle program from K-6 and regular gun safety classes from 7th on, including range time. Of course every time I mention this to some liberal I get how if guns were banned this wouldn't happen. Some people learn, others don't.
Indeed... it's a matter of attitude and taking responsibility. We have a large gun club, over 150 members, but our club facilities have no lights, no cameras, no "lanes" and usually no supervision unless an organized "shoot" is being put on. Everyone pretty much comes out and shoots on their own.
We have had no negligent discharges over many, many years either.
The safety features, lights and cameras can help, of course, but they can't replace personal responsibility at all. That has to come first.
