That a Mexican national, who helped arm some of the most dangerous killers on the planet should receive the same sentence as an American with a long and spotless record of service to his country, and one whose conviction relied on documented prejudicial hysteria and a seeming blind eye to what the law actually says about collectors vs. licensed dealers, is inexplicable enough. This is especially perplexing since the criminal complaint shows Lopez voluntarily confessed to many of his activities after being read his Miranda rights, without an attorney present and without demanding a deal.
