A Flaming Vigilante
WarOnGuns Correspondent Ned submitted this as a comment to today's "Gratifying Colin" post. I think it is on target and witty as hell, and deserves standalone recognition:
In other news, two people trapped in a wrecked bus perished when the bus they were traveling in caught fire after a traffic accident. It is alleged that an untrained civilian was unable to contain the flames with the fire extinguisher on the bus. The vigilante was held for questioning, before being released when it was discovered that no laws were broken.
The legislature immediately responded by introducing a bill forbidding anyone but trained firefighters to operate any piece of fire fighting equipment. The bill forbids civilians from either purchasing, owning, or using, fire extinguishers.
The Editorial Staff here at the Mushhead Anti-Republic Journal applauds this tardy effort by the state legislature, and encourages them to pass this important bill to maintain the public safety.
A surviving passenger opined: "I begged the man to wait for the authorities. Instead, he acted in vigilante fashion, claiming he was trying to keep the flames from igniting the fuel tank so the trapped people could be extricated so the whole bus wouldn't go up in flames. If only he'd waited for trained firefighters to respond, there would obviously have been much less loss of life. I mean, it took the Sheeple County fire department under fifteen minutes to respond after the fire started. I blame all the fatalities solely on this man's actions. He just refused to listen to reason."
State Assemblyman U. R. Joshin proudly announced: "It's time to place the safety of our citizens squarely where it belongs - on the shoulders of our paid experts. After all, that's what taxes are for."
Burn victim Colin Colin, injured in the 2009 U.R.U. arson fire in which 30 other perished, stated: "This is a win for people and public safety. Only experts should carry or use a device designed for saving lives."
Survivors of the accident are contemplating a lawsuit against the bus line for allowing access to a fire extinguisher by people other than trained professionals.
Veteran agent: Feinstein did not act on ATF abuse, corruption evidence
And Feinstein, who according to Cefalu’s account, washed her hands of the matter, is no exception, saying “perhaps mistakes were made, but I think this hunt for blame doesn’t really speak about the problem.” [More]Today's Gun Rights Examiner report notes you don't have to hunt all that far and all the blood didn't get washed off.
Vanderboegh Medical Update
I just got off the phone with him. He's sitting up now. He's also feeling the effects of the medications, but is lucid, engaged and interested in knowing what's going on. He passed on some Gunwalker-related info I can't go into (yet), but it shows even from his hospital bed in ICU he continues to shame the major media.
I started to recommend he take it easy, that the fight will still be here for him to return to when he recovers, and then stopped myself and acknowledged to him that fight is what invigorates and keeps ornery cusses like us going.
He was happy to hear about the well-wishes and prayers from many of you.

The Slippery Slope
Milwaukee police want to take away the right to legally carry a concealed weapon from anyone who has three misdemeanor convictions over a five-year period. This strikes us as a reasonable idea that state lawmakers should embrace. Frequent brushes with the law, even when relatively minor, indicate a pattern of recklessness that doesn't earn one the right to pack a firearm. [More]Well, hell--using that "logic," wouldn't it be even more reasonable to make them prohibited persons altogether? As a matter of fact, isn't it time we got those who give away baby bunnies and chicks at Easter in a manner noncompliant with WI laws off our streets for good?
Besides, "The issue is personal for [Chief] Flynn."
I'd say so. He did swear an oath to the Constitution.
I guess it doesn't occur to him and the authority worshipers at the Journal-Sentinel that it might just be personal for some of us, too?
From the Ministy of [Elkhart] Truth
Regulating whether guns are allowed in public places is not a Second Amendment issue...[More]Well, alrighty then. I'm certainly glad we've got that settled.
I have to admit a grudging sense of awe at the chutzpah of these regressive pinheads to pack so much deception and raw nitwittery into one brief editorial--and then pass it off as "Truth."

If this is what it takes, he's certainly chosen the right course to provide more such opportunities. [Read]
5th Circuit Invokes Rejoinder to Krako
U.S. District Judge Jay Zainey dismissed the claims in December 2010, saying Houston failed to allege sufficient facts to show how authorities violated his right to bear arms by retaining his pistol. [More]Jeez, talk about picky. Just because we confiscated your registered firearm and refused to return it doesn't mean we're infringing.
It was said best in "A Piece of the Action":
Who's interferin'? We're takin' over.
It looks like we have the "Vote Freedom First President" to thank for this Zainey character.
We're the Only Ones Smacking of Hypocrisy Enough
The plea deal announced this morning that allows anti-gun San Francisco Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi to keep his guns in what began as a domestic violence case “smacks of hypocrisy at the highest order,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today. [More]Hey, it's not like they intended that net to catch their own.

Cameras at petrol stations will automatically stop uninsured or untaxed vehicles from being filled with fuel, under new government plans. [More]Say--if we import that technology, it ought to also work on those of us who make the terrorist watchlist! And not just to keep us from filling up the tank!
Let's just hope it doesn't disproportionately discriminate!

We're the Only Ones Stunning Enough
An Ohio officer whose use of a stun gun on a child resulted in the shutdown of a village police force said he shocked the boy twice as the 9-year-old lay on the floor with his hands underneath his body. [More]Yeah, I have no idea how I could have ever dealt with feral sons Uday and Qusay when they were nine without resorting to my trusty stun gun. What adult could--what's that phrase the Chief used?-- "maintain the integrity of the incident" without resorting to electroshock compliance measures?
This Day in History: March 15
At daybreak on March 15th, Lt. Col. Thomas Dundas was sent to forage in and around the St. Andrew's Parish Church, again with support from Lt. Col. Webster. The Patriots had placed many riflemen near a bridge that had been demolished nearby. Lt. Col. Webster's men skirmished with these riflemen, but neither side suffered any casualties. [More]
