I just saw a link to this May 2012 Dave Kopel article on Facebook--I don't believe we talked about it at the time. Here's the important part:
NYPD spokesman Paul J. Browne told the Times that the Bloomberg gun detectors are currently effective at a range of 3 to 5 meters, and that the department is working to extend their range to 25 meters.

    Bloomberg is already doing unconstitutional "stop and frisk" to act out his hatred of freedom. Scanning everyone with an electronic gun detector is more of the same - unconstitutional searches. Bloomberg has the mentality of a rapist.
