R.I.P. Humphrie

Farewell, little carni-pig. She went quickly while being held. Amazing, the attachments we form.

  1. It is amazing. My sons had hamsters. I am not fond of rodents in any form, but the nasty little guys were cute sometimes, and I actually was sad when the last one died.

But I was firm when they wanted another one. We had a kennel full of dogs, and a barn yard full of horses, cattle, goats, ducks/chickens/geese, and barn cats.

I suggested they find a different kind of pet... except food animals. They were not allowed to name anything we were going to eat. Got that little potential confusion out of the way very early. :)

They eventually - at one time or another - had snakes, rabbits, big white lab rats, and even a tarantula for a while. Boys are like that.

    RIP, little pig. :)

  2. Two years ago my semi-ex wife took the kids to Florida to visit her Dad. The guineas came over to my place for the duration of the visit. I've still got them. The little fuzzballs have grown on me. Wouldn't trade 'em for anything now.

    Sorry for your loss.

  3. I am so sorry for the loss of Humphrie. I know that any loss in a family - whether of two legged, four legged, feathered or furred - leaves a soft, painful space. May healing come.
