In Wayne's defense (yes, I know, but hold your nose) there ARE numerous laws -- federal laws -- about felons holding guns, obtaining guns, using guns in the commission of a crime, etc. Why aren't they enforced?
Sometimes even the blind squirrel finds the acorn.
Break an "existing gun law" and you're a "felon with" or "obtaining" a gun, like I am, proudly, for my deliberate violation of CA edicts including carrying without a license I couldn't get to save my life (and did) or not registering "assault weapons." Anyone who can't be trusted with a gun can't be trusted without a custodian. As far as violent criminals abusing people with guns, enforce laws against assault, robbery and murder--what the weapon has to do with it is irrelevant except perhaps in upping the number of people you have committed those crimes against.
