We're the Only Ones Joyless Enough

The newspaper said Darrell Joy, 41, was stopped by city police while driving Saturday night ... Police confiscated two small plastic bags of marijuana, a loaded .45-caliber firearm and his deputy identification and badge. [More]
Oh, and look: He took them off some kid.  Or wait, he found them on the ground and picked them up so no children would find them.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

  1. I am confused. Officers confiscated "a fully-loaded .45-caliber firearm".

What would a "less than fully-loaded firearm" be? "Loaded firearm" is a binary descriptor - either the firearm is loaded (chambered round), or not. Are they describing a round in the chamber and multiple rounds in the magazine? If a seven round magazine is inserted into the unloaded firearm and the slide is not racked, is the weapon not loaded by some definitions?

If a seven round magazine is inserted into the unloaded firearm and the slide is racked transferring one round from the magazine into the chamber, is the firearm "less than fully loaded" as the magazine is then at less than full capacity?

If you remove the magazine with the round still in the chamber, is not the firearm still loaded?
