Military officer calls for nationwide gun-grab

“We will pry your gun from your cold, dead, fingers,” Bateman threatens. So much for the illusion of civilian control of the military, although it does drive home the fear the Founders had of a standing army. [More]

  1. David,

Some years ago I read an article that had the information to the Daniel Webster dictionary of that time period. It gave the volume number and page number of the definition. It stated regulated to mean equipped as we know it today. So it would read today "well equipped". I have somewhere the note I wrote stating the year, volume, and page number to find the definition. Only problem at the time was search engines didn't have enough muscle to find it.
Curious if you ever heard the same ?

  2. Daniel was a lawyer & politician--do you mean Noah? His 1828 dictionary defines "regulated" as: "Adjusted by rule, method or forms; put in good order; subjected to rules or restrictions," which would be consistent with a trained, equipped and disciplined militia.
