This raises another question, about what an average citizen could expect if he got drunk and pointed a gun at a cop’s head.Today's Gun Rights Examiner column notes what happens when no one guards the guards.
Who thinks the authorities would be so understanding? [More]

Drunken cop pointing gun at bar manager shows intolerable double standard
He's Ba-ack...
Mike is doing limited Sipsey Street posting from his hospital bed. He just posted a Skype interview he did yesterday. [More]
Still go easy on the comments and emails.

This is Gonna Take a While
Assistant U.S. Attorney Norman Cairns responded to Adams’ claims last week that the investigation has been slowed because many of the weapons have no serial numbers from manufacturers or importation numbers as required by law. [More]Yeah, I understand that's pretty typical for a lot of old guns...
Vanderboegh Out of Surgery, Recovering
I just spoke with Mike--not for very long, I just wanted to make sure he had come out of surgery OK. He sounded weak but was totally lucid. I wouldn't look for any output from him today, so maybe he'll surprise me.
What I recommended this morning still goes. Ixnay on the emails and SSI comments until he indicates he's back in the swing of things.

We're the Only Ones Who DO Need that Much Firepower to Go Deer Hunting Enough
I wish I could say "unbelievable." [More]
A Message for Christie
Please weigh in with Chris Christie right away and tell him that you’re watching what he does, and urge him to veto these bills. [More]Do it in a way to make him think if he does, he'll have a shot at the Big Chair.
The Gun Control Playbook
There is one you know, and Dave Workman examines it. [More]
This is an important story for many reasons, not the least being most of us haven't been aware of the existence of this document, but the antis know about it and have been using it against us. Here are the family ties:
I suggest you download it in case it disappears.
I also suggest we monitor the "news" to see how the talking points are being disseminated by "legitimate" media.
And lastly, I suggest sharing Workman's link far and wide. People need to know about this.

Among GQR’s clients are the Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the Joyce Foundation, several state education associations, Defenders of Wildlife, National Public Radio and the Sierra Club. Among OMP’s clients are Planned Parenthood of America and the Natural Resources Defense Council.

We're the Only Ones with Justifiable Need Enough
An Anne Arundel County grand jury has indicted a New Jersey police officer with a first-degree murder charge in the apparent road-rage shooting in Gambrills that left a former Millersville man dead. [More]See, the guy he shot didn't have "justifiable need."
Hey, I wonder how the anti-Zimmerman crowd will weigh in on this one...

Justifiable Need
Naturally this is New Jersey, and naturally a federal court upheld it. [More]
That's obviously what the Founder intended when they wrote "shall not be infringed."
Here's the decision. I note there was one dissent on the three-judge panel.

All the Fine Young Cannibals
What cowards. On the plus
side, none of the stompers look like they'd know how to handle
themselves against someone who does. [Watch]
Why adult homeowners allow this to happen in their neighborhood is a sign of the degenerated times. With all the legal and civil liability we'd face for going out there and breaking it up, I guess we're supposed to sit back and wait for the "Only Ones" to show up after the fact.
Not in front of my house.

IL medical cannabis users would have to choose between self-defense and medicine [More]Bummer, man.
What, we should let stoners have GUNS...???
Chill. Think it through.
Speaking of Racists...
CSGV demands Ted Nugent be kicked off the NRA board because they say he's a racist, and they've started an online petition to ... uh ... to draw media attention to their utter and silly irrelevance, it looks like... [More]
So it figures US News & World Report would give them a megaphone. Oh well, what other kind of 'journalism" would we expect from Emily Stanton?
The ol' Joshster & Co. still run away every time I ask them why they thought my being white was a relevant debate rebuttal instead of just an attempted racial slur. That's because they know logical consistency would require them to call somebody like Roy Innes, Kenn Blanchard or Colion Noir a "black gun nut,"and there ain't no way out of that painted corner without making a colorful mess.
Funny--this article from a week ago says they had 1,300 signatures, and what with their being Astroturf instead of grassroots 'n all, I thought I'd help give their numbers a boost. I thought after doing that I'd at least get to see what their latest tally is, but for some reason they're keeping that a secret.
I wonder why? And I wonder if they're going to claim guys like vLaddimir here (or some of his friends, perhaps?) in their grand total?

Operation Vanderboegh
Mike's going in for one this morning. [More]
I just spoke with him and he hopes to be groggily laptopping from his recovery room bed later this evening, assuming all goes as planned.
If there are any updates or important messages to share before then, I'll be posting them here at his request.
In the mean time, do the guy a favor and try to put yourself in his hospital slippers: How would you like to come out of it and find on top of everything else, you have a hundred emails and comments to deal with?
Your well-wishes and observations can wait, can't they?
Please give it a rest until further notice.

Dudley Brown's War
Love the guy or hate the guy, the basic message for gun owners that I get from this article is the same one the "progressives" are convincing stupid Republicans to listen to: That we need to be kinder, gentler, more compromising, less extreme -- and if we're not, Democrats will win. [More]
Like the people saying that want to give us helpful tips to prevent that from happening, instead of dividing and conquering...how damn naive (or corrupt) do you have to be to buy that?
That's because they fear us waking a critical mass up and going in the other direction.

This Day in History: August 1
After several months of chasing Gen. Greene's army without much success, Gen. Cornwallis and his 10,000 tired soldiers arrive to seek rest at the small port of Yorktown, Virginia, on the Chesapeake Bay. He then establishes a base to communicate by sea with Gen. Clinton's forces in New York. [More]
