Purported U.N. disarmament document long on hysteria, short on provability

The document reads like a conspiracy theorist’s worst nightmare on steroids, and while it’s not inconsistent with the documented goals of the most zealous factions in the globalist citizen disarmament camp, suspecting its authenticity is prudent. [More]
Today's Gun Rights Examiner report recommends making sure there's really a fire before pulling the alarm.

These are a Few of My Favorite Things

Andrea Shea King says "Turn off 'mainstream' media for good" and "lists blogs that do news faster, better." [More]

She's got some interesting picks, or at least picks I'm interested in...

While I was Playing Hooky

Dereliction of duty...and loving it.
Special guest co-host, Robert Zimmerman.  The guest lineup included author, John Higgs, the incredible Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, Rob Pincus, a call from JPFO Exec. Dir. Charles Heller.  One of the best shows ever in our 4.5 year history!
I'd fully intended to join the program in the third hour, but my brother had a big family cookout at his place. I called Mark at 7:30 to beg off and he graciously accepted my taking the night off on such short notice (not that they'd miss me with the lineup I knew they had). So while they were having one of their "best shows ever," I was having a damn fine weekend evening, something I think I deserve once in a while.

Self-Regulating Gun Control

Who says the industry isn't taking steps to deny access to guns to people who are proven dangers to themselves and others?

Deterrence

Former U.S. Navy SEAL Dom Raso explains how guns can keep people safe without ever being fired. [Watch]
I guess  it all depends on who you find more credible on the issue of appropriate responses to an attack:  A guy who qualified to be part of one of the most elite trained warrior cadres in the world, or a Bloomberg spokesflack who says you should ward off a club-wielding attacker with your fists.

Let's see, if I go with the guy who knows what he's talking about, there's every chance the deterrent effect will make escalation unnecessary, whereas if I listen to ...uh...what are his qualifications and credentials to offer an informed opinion on this again?... well, anyway, if I listen to him, the odds are I'll get bludgeoned to death.

Hmmm ... this is a real stumper ...

"Conservative Ideology"

Yeah, nice trick there, portraying heavily-regulated professional wheedlers and suck-ups dependent on the good will of the rulers, and economic fascists doing "business" with governments, which rely on plunder redistribution for all of their financial transactions, as a "free market" model. [More

Hey, if you're not doing anything wrong, why would it bother you? [More]

View from the Bottom Looking Up

So I suppose an alternative mural, one maybe from the point of view of the guy getting his face pummeled and his head pounded into the sidewalk, would not only not be welcomed, but would actually not be allowed in the Florida State Capitol? [More]

I mean, heck -- we don't want to be divisive or anything.

Crime and Punishment

Then Young became a suspect in burglaries at storage facilities and vehicles in the area, and the police searched his home and found the forgotten shotgun shells as well as some stolen goods. The United States attorney in Chattanooga prosecuted Young under a federal law that bars ex-felons from possessing guns or ammunition. In this case, under the Armed Career Criminal Act, that meant a 15-year minimum sentence. [More]
And you'll never guess who agrees with such laws, demands their enforcement, and criticizes government for not doing more.

Oh, you will...?

A New Mission

This is how it is to be done, it was easy to conclude.  Social science with a gun: community involvement, town meetings, law enforcement knowledge of everyone all of the time, biometrics to track people (and especially men of military age), door kicking and killing as punitive measures, all sanctioned by the authorities and fully approved.  A new mission. [More]
The late Jeff Cooper comes to mind:
I have been criticized by referring to our federal masked men as “ninja” … Let us reflect upon the fact that a man who covers his face shows reason to be ashamed of what he is doing. A man who takes it upon himself to shed blood while concealing his identity is a revolting perversion of the warrior ethic. It has long been my conviction that a masked man with a gun is a target. I see no reason to change that view.

A Temporary Setback

U.S. District Court Judge Shira Scheindlin said she was not putting an end to the policy, but rather was reforming it. [More]
That just means they need to up the quotas on everybody not being currently profiled.

The Return of Average Joe

"The NRA attacks on me are wrong. I am not an actor and I am a lifelong hunter." [More]
It wasn't the NRA initially--it was the UK's The Daily Mail that first referred to him as ""the actor playing the role of the Average Joe."

Bloomberg plays coy with info like this, like the itinerary for his bus tour, like the stealth city council crap they've been playing, and then when people question them they get all butt hurt.

If we do ever find the name of this Fudd kapo, I'd like to see his local gun stores tell him to get the hell out and get his damn hunting supplies from MAIG.

And in the spirit of VLLA SELLA IN PVGNA IN TABERNA, I'd like to sic ALF on his animal-murdering @$$.

Where Not to Eat

Why would I take such unacceptable risks in a place that bleats its vulnerability to those looking for weakness?

No Blast from the Past

Because a man is appointed to the police force, wears a uniform and carries a gun, it does not give him the right to make offending persons a target. [More]
You can tell this was from long ago. Not a very "progressive" attitude, is it?

Fourth Estate Fifth Columnists. Is it any wonder we love them so?

Underestimation

You can't underestimate how important it is for Congress to see movement in the states, especially big states like California. [More]
True enough.

And you also can't underestimate how seriously defiant this is making some people.
