A Self-Fulfilling Prophecy?

“If the same reaction happens here, we’ll be out of business,” Raymond said in an interview. [More]
One can only hope, especially since "Maryland’s Handgun Roster Board is required to review the status of personalized handgun technology and report its findings to the Governor and the General Assembly annually."

And Raymond's screwing New Jersey gun owners even worse, as they "adopted a law that will eventually require smart gun technology to be incorporated into all handguns sold in the state ...
Twenty-three months after the Attorney General finds that smart handguns are available for retail sale, the Attorney General and the Superintendent of State Police must begin the process of promulgating a list of such handguns that may be sold in New Jersey. ...Six months after the initial list of handguns is approved, it will be unlawful for any licensed manufacturer, wholesaler, or retail firearms dealer to transport into New Jersey, sell, expose for sale, possess with the intent of selling, assign, or otherwise transfer a handgun unless it is a personalized handgun (excluding antique handguns and handguns used by law enforcement or military officers)."

So thanks, “right-wing vanguard of gun rights”Raymond. Here's hoping gun owners let you know exactly what they think of your decision.

No one is saying they should be prohibited. We're saying they shouldn't be mandated.

Tell me you don't understand the difference.

As for Armatix, I'll tell you right now, we haven't heard the last of their dealings with government--as much as they--and media allies--are trying to portray them as aggrieved victims. There are some very curious documented revelations yet to be made.

  2. Well, you got him doing hardcore damage control now, as made apparent on his FB page.

I screencapped his response for posterity. Let me know if you'd like it in the near future.

I am grateful to hear that you have abandoned your ill-conceived plan to offer Armatix's "smart" gun for sale. With the announced cancellation of your plans I would have considered the issue closed, if not for your astonishing comments accompanying the announcement.

Perhaps the Washington Post is misquoting or excluding critical context, but here's what I saw that made my poor hobo head spin:

    -----snip-----
Earlier, Raymond had said he’s on the “right-wing vanguard of gun rights” but is vehemently opposed to gun rights activists arguing against the idea of a smart gun — or any gun.

“To me that is so fricking hypocritical,” Raymond had said. “That’s the antithesis of everything that we pro-gun, pro-Second Amendment people should be. You are not supposed to say a gun should be prohibited. Then you are being no different than the anti-gun people who say an AR-15 should be prohibited.”
    -----snip-----

If this was a mistake or intentional misrepresentation by WP, you should demand a retraction, consult legal counsel about filing civil and criminal charges for defamation, and read no further.

If the above truly is what you said....

Sir, this is not about a gun or class of guns being prohibited. It's about a gun or class of guns being MANDATED. For a few bucks, you were ready and willing to aid our enemies embedded into Congress and state legislatures across this country who are doing everything they can to MANDATE these "smart" guns. They have thus far failed only because such guns do not exist for sale.

...but then I have a hard time believing that you were unaware of the legal/political issues surrounding these guns, and the danger in which you would have placed us all. I also have a hard time believing that you do not know the difference between the verbs "prohibit" and "mandate". Apparently though, you believe that the sort of potential customers shopping for custom AR15s are that ignorant of the issues at stake. I propose that you are woefully mistaken.

I recommend you retract that asinine attempt at spinning this fiasco, accept full responsibility for and _recognition_of_ your would-be malfeasance, then go forth and sin no more. Who knows, you might even bring back some lost customers that way.

...and next time you are shamed/extorted/blackmailed into doing the right thing, no matter how bitter you are about it, try not to screw it up by spouting such insulting idiocy at us gun owners.

    Sincerely,

    #HOBO#

  4. Collaborators like Ray need to be boycotted and run out of business. This really isn't any worse than Ruger pushing improved Soviet style mental health gun bans, let alone getting the "assault weapon" and large magazine ban movements rolling. Yet I run into plenty of alleged gun rights types who love buying Rugers. They're for gun rights until the manufacturer of a gun they wanted to buy collaborates, then they can't be inconvenienced by "purist" positions.
