I wonder if they'd couch things the same way had the motorist fired a round into a squad car?  After they emptied several magazines into him...

    It was a reserve deputy.
    Probably a volunteer or a guy who was trying to get himself in line for a full time deputy job.

    With two 'real deputies' on scene, I have no idea why he had to draw his gun out too.
