No idea where the idea that it is "not illegal" to be intoxicated and in possession of a firearm in MO. It is very illegal. It is the first thing they tell you in the ccw classes, and when you talk to the sheriff's office to get your background check done.
But on top of all of that, she has also broken another law in MO, you cannot refuse a breathalyzer. It is an immediate loss of your drivers license. In fact i think it may be cause for her to lose her CCW.
In the spirit of "if you cannot say something nice, do not say anything at all", I commend her for carrying extra ammunition for that handgun.
I also commend her for refusing to participate in proving her "innocence", especially as she was not operating a motor vehicle. Imagine that, asserting your First Amendment AND your Second Amendment rights!
Perhaps the officer's major concern was that she was acting too much like his colleagues. When sheriff's deputies, police officers and other LEO personnel practice complete sobriety and abstinence from alcohol while carrying weapons, I will take stories like this more seriously.
