I am seeing a lot of jubilant hubbub about the
new Florida law allowing suppressors to be used while hunting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it just codify that it's OK to use suppressors for which ATF tax stamps have been issued? I'm seeing some assumptions out there that this is a Firearms Freedom Act-style parallel, and I don't think so.
It appears you are correct, David. Looking at the referenced rules, this is merely a change to past prohibitions on hunting with specific tools or in specific actions (i.e., no hunting with machine guns, no shooting at game from a vehicle).
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like a positive change, but I see nothing there to suggest that BATFE and friends won't try to kill a Floridian who subsequently makes their own suppressor for crow hunting.
