How wonderful it is to have good memories of our parents, and increasingly rare, I'm afraid. My father died when I was 4 years old, so I never really knew him. My mother became my best friend, role model and inspiration. She died in 1992, and I miss her so much still.
How fortunate you were to have your Dad in your life, David, and what a contribution toward victory he made as a Marine. My Dad died of a sudden MI when I was 10 years old. Many times I would have loved to ask him his advice on various "life crises." Dad tried to enlist after Pearl Harbor but was turned down by all 4 services due to his heart trouble.

God bless.
