As unsavory as that situation is, it is absolutely the right of private persons to exercise their First Amendment right of freedom of association to NOT associate with people, even for such petty and pathetic reasons as the mere color of the others' skin.
I'm not suggesting the guns of government be used to change that situation, neither do I imagine David is.
Pointing out the rancid hypocrisy, on the other hand, may help to wake up honest-but-deceived folks.
