We're the Only Ones Honored Enough

“One is Memorial Day,” the Ohio Republican said. “The other is today, when we honor federal, state, and local law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.” [More]
I was wondering why they were at half-staff.

And no, there are no plans for a "National Victims of Only Ones Memorial Day."

Why not?

Nazgul Continue Serving Sauron

The law upheld Thursday seeks to accommodate that constitutional right while also protecting the community from gun violence. [More]
You heard him, orcs. Go for it.

Man, is this guy an Obama appointee or what?   And enough of an insider to sail right through with "bipartisan" approval:
Boasberg was confirmed in a 96 to 0 vote on Monday.
OK, so which "pro-gun" Senators do we have to thank for this?

Not of the Body?

So, I have it on good authority from a Master-at-Arms Senior Chief (MACS) buddy of mine that the author of this piece (a radar technician) was neither a SAMI (Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor) nor was he a base police officer, both of which are what he claims. He was an Navy AUXILIARY security force member (a rent-a-cop) and he was a line coach, which for those of you who are not familiar, means he was a safety supervisor that stands behind troops while they qualify on their weapons to help ensure no safety violations are committed. He didn't teach ANYTHING. [More]
It would be illustrative if it is true, and we need to emphasize at this point we've hardly seen enough evidence to overcome reasonable doubt, but my bottom line: Don't matter to me none-- I've already decided.

He could have been the biggest hero in the military, and I'm reminded that at one time, this guy was no slouch himself.

FRIDAY UPDATE: Just got my second comment that the FB page has been removed.  It still works for me, as evidenced by the screen shot I took one minute ago.

Conyers Doesn't Qualify for a Lot More than the Ballot

Too funny.  So naturally, it's being couched as a "precious right to vote" battle. [More]

Gee, maybe having felony home invaders among his campaign workers explains why the old Marxist is so hot on "gun control."

That and Sweetie being a prohibited person, herself...

Hard Times in the Upper Cretaceous

How very "progressive"!
Gosh, that's too bad. [More]

All due to mean old ideological climate change deniers...

Perhaps we could make them buy communication credits or something.

Yeah, that's been proposed.

Outsmarting Themselves?

So, we have a prohibition on any “person” transferring or possessing a machinegun which was not lawfully registered before May 19, 1986. BUT, an unincorporated trust is not a “person” under the GCA, so this provision cannot apply to it. [More]
If they don't even understand their own rules, how are we supposed to?

It's Pie on the Ground that Matters

The group expects between 10 million and 30 million similarly thinking Americans to meet them in the capital on Friday for a rally that’s being billed as a sort of “Arab Spring” for Americans ... more than 1 million militia members have already mobilized for the event — and ... projections of 10 million to attend aren’t pie in the sky.  [More]
Really?

I'm going to hold my comment until after the event.

The Santa Barbara Establishment

I'm sorry, but "Independent" just doesn't seem accurate.

They'll post pressers like this, and letters like this, and "news" like this, but it seems they won't lift a finger to advise their readers of a long-simmering and reemerging controversy like this.

More "Authorized Journalist / real reporter / legitimate news media sins of omission."  No wonder more and more are climbing over, digging under and going around self-styled "sophisticated" gatekeepers.

GOA Responds to Sasse Charges

Ben Sasse is unequivocally a pro-gun candidate and he filled out our detailed candidate questionnaire with 100% accuracy. He affirmed unequivocally that gun free zones and legislation proposing mandatory background checks on the private sale of firearms are unconstitutional and violate the rights of law-abiding gun owners. [More]
Fine and good, but this does not address the very specific allegations, particularly as they relate to  Sasse presiding over a "gun free zone" and the immigration tie-in.

I've urged GOA to break down the details, including via email, and this general statement doesn't do that. As I'm always quick to point out disconnects between NRA grades and candidates, I'm not going to expect any different standards here.  I hope they do, because until they do, this will hurt them.

Flesh that Out for Us, Scott

It’s doubtful that, should an American dictator somehow try to consolidate power, citizens armed with firearms would actually be able to halt that dictator’s rise through violent resistance. The United States is a nuclear power, and our military has the most sophisticated weapons of war in the world. [More]
OK, you brought  it up, so run with it.

This Day in History: May 15

I am in total Ignorance of your powers and prospects of carrying the Army into the field—and indeed of many other Matters essential for me to know. The hourly Expectation I have had of seeing you with the Army, has prevented me from issuing some very necessary Orders, and caused delays which I fear will be injurious to the Operations of the Campaign.
