He raises points that no doubt are agreed with by many. [More]
That said, people with a different line in the sand are making their defiance known. Whether what happens today causes more to join them or more to distance themselves remains to be seen, but there will be resurgences as infringements without recourse increase. The antis are going to keep pushing, and a growing number of gun owners are getting sick and tired of being told their only option is to repeat failed tactics in places where they have no chance to succeed.
You don't have to like it or feel comfortable with it. I've taken some recent heat for expressing caution and doubts myself. But the one thing we must never forget is that the true extremists are those who would criminalize rights.
That's a tough nut. Rubbing the butts of antis has gotten us where we are. OTOH, I hate to see people trying to make a point, who could do so tastefully, and with some sort of decorum, instead supply loads of ammunition to the antis. Charging rifles in chambers seems idiotic. They could have already been charged, and handled appropriately, with standard protocol muzzle discipline. Why were charging handles manipulated from the gallery? Were they really getting ready to go hot? Still seems idiotic to me.
ReplyDeleteThe antis are used to movies, not reality. They see a TV LEO hold someone at gunpoint, then rack their weapon (finally loading it) to let the perp know they're serious.
Where ever we're headed, this is going to be a touchy issue.
