That is complete bullshit. The people need to find all the lawyers that think like this and give them a good coat of tar and feather. Then decorate the trees around the capital with them.
If stopped and asked to get out of your car, be sure to put the keys in your pocket and lock the doors. They will bring a drug dog out and it will "alert" indicating you have drugs in your car. Then they will get a warrant and search your vehicle. Of course they won't find anything, but there you are.
Get your state legislature critters by the scruff of the neck and explain too them that this needs to be a crime, with real punishment. Prison time would be appropriate. Cops that defend this practice are not "good cops". They are thieves with costumes and badges. The next time your sheriff is up for re-election, drag his feet into the fire. If he thinks this is a good idea, he needs to be sent packing.
