Giving the Finger

I saw a comment on my latest TTAG piece that made me recall a story I haven't thought about in decades:
[M]y 6th grade teacher was sometimes called “4 and a quarter finger man” from a old shop incident.
A college buddy told us about his shop teacher who was cautioning them on how he lost his finger in a negligent table saw incident, and in his demo proceeded to cut off another finger.

    I like to imagine it happened right after he told the class how he was the only one in this room...
