A Matter of (Virtual) Life and Death

The bit about hacked fraudulent "death certificates" is scary enough, but the thought of creating a supply of "burner identities" to be activated at a future date is at once both terrifying and intriguing. [More]

I'm surprised no one has green-lighted a movie script based on that premise -- maybe they have and I just don't know about it.

  1. Not a movie script, but there was “White Collar” season 3 episode 6, where our heroes get new IDs from an “identity farmer”:

    "Years ago, I began filing for a number of birth certificates. Back then, it was much easier. The world was more trusting...
    I treated these identities as if they were real. As they grew up, I gave them bank accounts, library cards, tax returns… I created lives, one of which you will now step into as if you had lived it all along.”
