Anon's right. That's a first-generation Benjamin Marauder. And "nice" is putting it pretty mildly; the M-Rod's reputation* is that of bringing $2K-$3K precharged pneumatic airgun performance for about six hundred bucks.
A cheap revolver would of course have been a much better stopper if she'd had to fire, but it sounds like this lady won her fight with command presence anyway. (Nice job!)
(Now, what do you suppose the polypragmatoi will do when they find out that her Marauder is internally sound-suppressed by design? My understanding is that, at least in .177, the primary noise it makes on firing is the sound of the striker thonking on the valve. It's quiet.)

Oh, the ironies keep on piling up here, don't they? Having just seen the clip under the link, I must conclude that the PSH insert in the title is just some manager's flaccid attempt to counteract the clip's actual, you know, content.
The contrast is so high, it's surprising the clip was allowed to be run at all. It's looking like gold to me. Even the talking heads are in full support, and Ms. Williams, at least in this context, has just become someone I want my girls to see.
Hell, at this point I'd just love to talk with her candidly about the whole thing. She just has to know the difference between a pellet rifle and a firearm*, and I wonder if she's enjoying the ironies of parading that piece in front of the cameras, in this postmodern dystopia in which it's always about vilifying the hardware, and somehow nobody has said a thing about it yet. The way she carries herself, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
________________________ * Of course it's possible that she's still plenty ignorant about the mechanics of airgun v. firearm performance, but then again, of course, that hardly matters when you've won your fight with your attitude even before the gun is in hand. She hardly needs to be any sort of "true believer" in order to do what she did--and somehow that warms my heart all over again. :-)
David, thanks for bringing this story to my attention. I've become just enough of an airgunner these last few years, that I may now be able to credibly get this sort of story in front of what may be a new audience. From what I can tell, there are a lot of friendlies in there--including a lot more from overseas than one might presume.
Interestingly, from the pictures it's an air rifle. A nice one, too!
ReplyDeleteYet another with-gun self-defense that “didn’t happen” because there is no criminal corpse to be counted by the likes of Arthur Kellermann.

Well doesn't that just explain this breathless "Authorized Journalist"-approved title?
ReplyDeleteFemale sharpshooter scares off crooks with sniper rifle?
Well it does have glass, duh... :-)

ReplyDeleteAlways with the outreach.
