Aside from the fast and furious firearms, the Mexican cartels use full-auto,military grade weapons, many of them purchased from corrupt government and military officials in the various central and south American sh*tholes the CIA and/or U.S. military was involved in. Even the left leaning anti-gun LA Times did a series back in 2009 that disproved the horsepucky that the cartels were buying their guns in U.S. gun shops.
Although this article about cartels military grade weaponry repeats the lie that cartels get their guns from American gun shops-it shows that the cartels are not using semi-auto and bolt-action hunting rifles and revolvers.
"The enhanced weaponry represents a wide sampling from the international arms bazaar, with grenades and launchers produced by U.S., South Korean, Israeli, Spanish or former Soviet bloc manufacturers. Many had been sold legally to governments, including Mexico's, and then were diverted onto the black market. Some may be sold directly to the traffickers by corrupt elements of national armies, authorities and experts say."
